Celebrating 20 Years of Excellence

More than 200 guests including MAA Medicare board of trustees, partners, sponsors, friends and staff members gathered to celebrate MAA Medicare's 20th anniversary.
The gala dinner, an appreciation event was organized to raise awareness and appreciation for the ongoing support towards the organization.The event was held at The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur Hotel, venue sponsor of the event.

Treasured pictures of the organization were displayed since inception in 1994. The milestone wall showcased more than 150 pictures from 2 decades of history, featuring significant events, developments, landmark activities and achievements.

#FunRun

Held on 13th September 2015 at Taman Metropolitan Kepong, ‪#‎FunRun‬ is a recreational activity aimed to promote healthy living and at the same time raise funds for our dialysis centres.

Charity Fun Fiesta 2.0

It was a busy morning for everyone involved in the Charity Fun Fiesta 2.0, from members of the public along with the vendors as they flocked in to participate in the fundraising event.

The Charity Themed Bazaar is the biggest fundraising event in the dialysis centre’s calendar. The money raised from donations, ticket sales, booth sales and fundraising activities were channeled towards the operation and the Patient Welfare Fund (PWF) program. The PWF program aid and support the elderly, the disabled, special needs and the poor.

Featuring more than 40 booths, all vendors participated to support the fundraising effort offering favorite delicacies like sarawak laksa, nasi penyet, lemang apam balik. The crowd came in full force as early as 7am to purchase vegetables, fruits, eggs, plants, potpies, handicrafts, jewelry, and household items.

Jazzercise Van Handover

Giving back to the community has always been a focus for Jazzercise, one of the largest dance-based fitness programmes in the world. The company’s latest endeavor involves donating a brand new mobility van to the MAA Medicare (MAA Medicare Charitable Foundation), through their local franchise, Jazzercise Malaysia.

In conjunction with the World Kidney Month celebrated annually in March, the unveiling ceremony was held today at the MAA Medicare’s Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah centre (previously known as Jalan Ipoh). The brand new 12-seater van valued at RM 110,000 will be used by the MAA Medicare’s dialysis centres at Kajang, Sg Besi and Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah to transport patients for life saving treatment.

The van donation was made possible from the success of the Jazzercise Malaysia’s “Sweat2Smiles 2014” charity dance party, which was hosted on 19th October 2014 and successfully raised RM 115,000.

Walk A Mile 4.0

More than 400 participants made their way down to Plaza Pelangi at Taman Sri Tebrau to participate in a charity walkathon organised by nurses of JB Lions-MAA Medicare Charity Dialysis Centre in Johor Bharu. When the flag off commenced at 11am on last Sunday, 23 August, the community group who had supported the “Walk-A-Mile” had the satisfaction of knowing that they were involved for a good cause. The event has successfully raised RM11,000.

Themed Give, Care and Share, the event was organized by nursing staff who cares for over 150 patients at both dialysis centres located at Taman Sri Terbau and Taman Baiduri, Johor Bharu.

The event which started from 8.30am was officiated by Encik Ishraqi Shah Abu Bakar, the Senior Manager of PNB Commercial - Plaza Pelangi, the venue sponsors for the event. Held at the vicinity of the mall and its carpark, the venue provided an ideal location for several other sponsors to get involved. BP Healthcare Group had set up a booth to provide free health checks and owners of the popular bike bikes called Bikers From Johor also made their way out to parade and shared stories of their journey with one another.

Jalan Sungai Besi Plaque Ceremony

The Board of Trustees of The MAA Medicare Charitable Foundation (The Foundation), the nation’s second largest charitable dialysis provider, recently dedicated a dialysis centre in honor of YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Lee Lam Thye. Tan Sri Lee has served the nonprofit organization for 20 years at the time of his retirement at the end of 2014.

The dialysis centre, MAA Medicare Charity Dialysis Centre-Sungai Besi, currently cares for 52 patients, has long been a passion project of Tan Sri Lee. This honor was bestowed on Tan Sri Lee in a plaque signing ceremony for his dedicated service to, association in, and stewardship of the entire Foundation.

Tan Sri Lee has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 1994. With more than 2 decades in the organization, Lee had all knowledge and the know-how and, the most important; he has shared the experience and the necessary vision that led to formulating the Foundation’s goals to maintain its mission as a community center for the needy.

Teluk Intan Opening Ceremony

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s department Y.B. Dato’ Mah Siew Keong, officially launched the newly relocated MAA Medicare Charity Dialysis Centre at Taman Melor Sejati in Teluk Intan. The centre is a not-for-profit community dialysis treatment provider for 70 patients with kidney failure.

The launch marks MAA Medicare Charitable Foundation’s (MAA Medicare) presence in Teluk Intan for the past 20 years and the relocation to its new premise was made possible thanks to the generous contribution and support of the community.

The new ‘home’ boasts a maximum capacity of 20 dialysis machines and brand new medical equipment, will be able to provide treatment for UP TO 150 patients. The relocation also marks the move towards setting new standards in the dialysis treatment industry to transform it into one that is more holistic in its care. This is in line with the Foundations’ aspiration towards setting new standards in the quality of treatment provided to its patients.
